how we work

Please take a moment to read through the following information so that you are clear what our requirements are in order that we can best serve you.  It is also advisable to contact me in the first instance before booking an appointment to ensure I am the best fit for your requirements.  

We are a boutique atelier specialising in couture custom made garments for women. The initial consultation is free and usually takes around 30 minutes but can last up to one hour.  Subsequent appointments are charged at £25.00 per hour payable at the time of visit in cash; however this is redeemable against a purchase.  If you are unable to keep your appointment or are running late, please can you let me know as soon as possible.  

Each order is individually priced based on your requirements.  After the initial consultation and discussion, a quote for your custom made garment will be provided via e-mail, which usually takes   1 - 2 days.  To secure my services, 50% deposit of the total cost quoted is due up front before any work can commence.  Please note this is non-refundable.  The balance will be due when the garment is delivered to you following completion. 

I prefer all our customers to be measured at the studio premises for the best fitting results and to minimise customer errors. Please wear a tee-shirt that fits well and if requesting evening wear or trousers, please bring shoes that you usually wear or will be wearing. 

We work from block patterns which are adjusted and amended to your shape with preferences for styling details.  Please be clear what your requirements are at the consultation stage, as once the deposit has been paid there is no further opportunity to make amendments.  We offer a selection of fine woven cloth for all our garments; our fabric swatch books allow you to touch and feel the texture and quality.  We have found that cheaper cloth does not give a professional finish and tends to undermine the structural integrity of the garment. However; if you wish to use your own fabric please let me know.

There are steps leading to the front door of the property and we are situated on the first floor up one main flight of stairs, there are no lifts.  Our atelier is delightful but quite small, and can only accommodate two persons.  If you will be accompanied, please ask the person accompanying you to wait in the hall seating area or return later.
